We are working hard in class to become independent readers and spellers. Welcome to Kindergarten! I hope you are having a good day. Mrs. Ring Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Phone: 434-528-6498 Welcome to Kindergarten!
Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest, eats well balanced meals, and comes to school ready to learn. I look forward to working with your children daily. They will be working on the alphabet out of order and their sounds. We will use sounds to build words. Working on sight words are super helpful for reading. Spelling by sound and writing letters in words and then building sentences is starting to happen in journal time for most students.
Enjoy this 15-20 minutes of time with your child for reading each night, soon I will send home books for them to read to you. This will mean pointing to the words left to right. It should not be stressful just a school to home connection. Writing a sentence a week and completing 4 activities on the checklist are vital to their success.
Counting items at home, sorting, and simply noting how numbers are used in the real world is a great way to work on math skills. Working on counting to 100 is great support at home. Counting by 5s, 10s, and looking at real coins helps to prepare for counting money and telling time!
